The operations of KCMBA are supported by a staff of fifteen full-time employees, led by Executive Director Vickie Schatz. While working in several different departments, our common goal is to ensure that attorneys in the Kansas City area view KCMBA as a valuable resource in enhancing their experience as legal professionals. Vickie is the chief operating officer and managing executive of KCMBA and KCMBF. Vickie oversees the development of programs and policies, provides direction to the Board of Directors, and supervises day-to-day operations. Vickie is also responsible for supervising fiscal and budgetary matters including budget preparation and accounting, managing the implementation of the mission statement and ensuring the effectiveness of the KCMBA staff.
After several years at Texas Bar CLE, Matt joined KCMBA UMKC CLE in October 2013. Matt is responsible for live and online event registrations, creating event flyers, distributing speaker material, producing event attendee rosters and working live seminars. Matt also processes and manages registrations for KCMBA events including Annual Meeting, Lunch at the Bar, and the annual Bench-Bar Boardroom Conference.
Director of Finance & Administration
Len is responsible for the administration and accuracy of the financial activities and human resource functions of KCMBA and KCMBF. Len provides oversight of all financial operations, including accounting, auditing, budgeting, cost-containment, cash control, payroll, tax filing, accounts receivable and payable, asset accouting, employee benefits, insurance and related financial reporting.
Director of Membership & Communications
Tracey is responsible for all aspects of membership, including recruitment and retention. She also oversees KCMBA’s communications and marketing, including the management of the publication of the KC Counselor and Bar Directory and the development and maintenance of the website. Tracey also coordinates and manages special events such as the Bench-Bar & Boardroom Conference, Annual Meeting, and the Liberty & Justice Gala.
Director of Sections & Committees
Kim manages KCMBA’s Sections and Committees, providing support to leadership and members in their scheduling and planning of meetings and socials. She also coordinates the planning of special events associated with sections committees, including the YLS Golf Tournament, Law Week, Heartland Legal Diversity Job Fair, and monthly member socials. Kim also oversees KCMBA’s Fee Dispute Resolution Program.
Manager of Facilities & Catering
Karlee is responsible for scheduling and coordinating all in-house events at KCMBA headquarters, including CLE seminars, committee meetings, and space rentals for arbitrations, mediations, depositions and meetings. She also assists the Director of Communications in planning other KCMBA and KCMBF events such as the Liberty & Justice Gala and the Bench-Bar & Boardroom Conference. Karlee also oversees facility operations.
Assistant Director of Continuing Legal Education
Barb manages the strategic planning, budgeting, financial performance, and accreditation of online CLE programming. She also assists in managing content and production of CLE programs, including development, marketing, and implementation. Barb serves as the staff liaison to the Trial Academy Committee and assists local courts in the planning and execution of the Trial Academy.
Membership & Foundation Coordinator
Libby is responsible for handling membership inquiries, managing the format and content of the KCMBA website, and maintaining individual and institution records in the database and Bar Directory. She also assists other members of the communications team in developing member benefits and creating and disseminating electronic communication. Libby also provides administrative support to the Bar Foundation.
CLE Fiscal Coordinator
Evelyn assists the Director of CLE by providing financial information for the planning and budgeting of individual seminars and deparment accounts. She is also responsible for maintaining and reconciling the general ledger for UMKC CLE, as well as processing and reconciling accounts payable and receivable.

She also assists the Executive Director in scheduling, planning and preparing for meetings, arranging travel, and preparing correspondence. Carody provides general administrative support to other KCMBA staff members, as needed.
Director of Continuing Legal Education
Daniel is responsible for all aspects of KCMBA UMKC CLE, which offers live events, CLE abroad programs, on-demand events and publications. With over 25 years of experience in CLE, Daniel leads a team of five professionals dedicated to providing high-quality educational programs and A+ customer service. He works with KCMBA Sections & Committees and other groups to develop timely, topical, unique and engaging educational events.
CLE Events & Program Coordinator
Sarah assists in the coordination of catering and logistics for all Continuing Legal Education events and is responsible for securing proper accreditation for all CLE courses. She also assists in the processing of accounts receivable for the CLE department.
Director of Information Technology
Greg evaluates, maintains and upgrades all Association hardware and software including the conference center equipment. He is responsible for the upkeep of the Association’s membership database and the courthouse security pass system. Greg also provides technical support for the KCMBA website and resolves user issues such as login failures.
Ashley assists the Director of Sections & Committees by providing support in planning scheduling and conducting committee meetings, membership socials, and special events, and providing information to section and committee members on various Bar programs. Ashley also coordinates and administers the day-to-day operations of the KCMBA Fee Dispute Program and provides assistance to the Director of Finance & Administration.
