Bench-Bar & Boardroom Conference Awards

DEAN OF THE TRIAL BAR
Formerly called Litigator Emeritus, the Dean of the Trial Bar award is presented at the Bench-Bar & Boardroom Conference to one or more attorneys who have been in practice for at least 30 years or have reached the age of 60. The award acknowledges substantial and distinguished trial service.

The 2014 Deans of the Trial Bar are Lynne Bratcher, Larry Rouse, and Fred Walters.

BARONS OF THE BOARDROOM
Created in 2005, the Baron of the Boardroom awards recognizes KCMBA members who have had a distinguished career representing corporate/business clients.

The 2014 Barons of the Boardroom are Michelle Stark Kaufman and Mary Beth Blake.

DISTINGUISHED COUNSELOR AWARD
Created in 1988 as the Congenial Counselor Award, the Distinguished Counselor Award is presented annually to one or more members of KMCBA that exemplify the traits of professional gallantry, peacemaking, harmony and friendship in their practice of the law.

The 2014 recipients of the Distinguished Counselor Award are John Aisenbrey and Jill Katz.

THOMAS J. CONWAY AWARD
The Thomas J. Conway Award honors a young trial lawyer who exemplifies two traits of the late Tom Conway; outstanding trial skills and the ability to be a fierce advocate, while simultaneously a good friend to opposing counsel.

The 2014 recipient of the Thomas J. Conway Award is Sam Wendt.

YOUNG LAWYER OF THE YEAR
The Young Lawyer of the Year Award recognizes a young lawyer for significant community, civic and professional work.

The 2014 Young Lawyer of the Year is Andrew LeRoy.

KELLY J. MOORHOUSE DEDICATION TO CHILDREN AWARD
In honor of Kelly J. Moorhouse, this award recognizes a KCMBA member’s decication to the representation of children and families in the greater Kansas City Metropolitan area.

The 2014 recipient of the Kelly J. Moorhouse Dedication to Children Award is Mary Kay O’Malley.

ROBERT C. WELCH VOLUNTEER ATTORNEY PROJECT AWARD
The Robert C. Welch Volunteer Attorney Project Award is presented annually to an individual and a law firm who, through the Volunteer Attorney Project, have demonstrated an exemplary commitment to the delivery of pro bono legal services in our community.

The 2014 recipient(s) of the Robert C. Welch Volunteer Attorney Project will be announced at the 41st Annual Bench-Bar & Boardroom Conference.
