All in the Family: Collaborative Approaches to Immigration Issues
Immigration issues increasingly intersect with family law matters, creating unique challenges for attorneys, judges, and families navigating complex legal systems. This program will provide an overview of key immigration concepts and explore how immigration status can affect family law cases, including custody, parenting time, domestic violence matters, and access to legal remedies. Through a multidisciplinary panel discussion, participants will gain practical insights into the real-world impact of immigration issues on families and the legal professionals who serve them. The program will conclude with an ethics and elimination of bias session focused on language access, cultural competence, and effective communication with clients and court participants from diverse linguistic backgrounds.
